The fifth six weeks passes very quickly with spring break. During the fouth and fifth six weeks, IPC students will be reviewing for the upcomming TAKS test. We will be deviating from our regular course of study. We will spend some time discussing rocks and minerals, plate tectonics, and other concepts they may have forgotten since last year. All efforts are made to make sure your children get all the material necessary to do well on the TAKS test. I will also be giving them TAKS review materials for review. During the first two weeks of this six weeks, my students will be learning about Isaac Newton and his laws of motion. We will be learning about potential and kinetic energy, speed, velocity, force of gravity, and how they apply to our everyday life. There will be several labs during this period.

During the third and fourth weeks of this six weeks, students will building on the previous weeks and will be learning about vectors. We will be culminating this course of study by completing the roller coaster project.

During the fifth and sixth week of this six weeks, students will creating a roller coaster. They have to make a blue print of a roller coaster they would like to build. Measurements must be included on the print with such things as velocity, potential and kinetic energies, g - forces etc. After the plan is approved, they will build a scale model of it that has to work. This project is unquestionably the most liked project of the year! I will be including many pictures and video clips of this project. Please feel free to come and view this as we complete them.

This will complete this six weeks course of study.
